The fair for foreign language job seekers went beyond expectations
"The attitude and motivation to work is great"
The city of Äänekoski, together with Central Finland's TE services, organized an employment meeting for job seekers in foreign languages at the Äänekoski town hall on Thursday, July 7.7.2022, XNUMX. More than a hundred clients of the Äänekoski reception center participated in the employment meeting, or miit.
- The attitude and motivation to work is great. Most of the participants were young adults, even highly educated, and the newcomers are ready to take any job, the employment manager of the city of Äänekoski Riikka Hytönen says.
- It was great that we got the TE services along. At the event, it was possible to identify with Migri's identity card, register in the TE office's career system and become an unemployed job seeker, says Hytönen.
- It is important that newcomers sign up for TE services, because it makes it easier for jobseekers and employers to meet each other. That way, the locality can get enough language and integration training organized by TE services.
The event was attended by volunteer Russian interpreters. We also did well in English.
End of the continuous labor shortage in the cleaning industry
The representation of Äänekoski Kiinteistöhoito Oy was also present. Äänekoski Kiinteistöhoito's service manager Riitta Tikkanen is happy that the event aroused so much interest and there were a lot of people.
According to Tikkanen, there is a constant labor shortage in the cleaning industry - and even more so in the future. At the employment meeting, Kiinteistönhoido found several potential future workers in the cleaning industry, and they will be sent a joint message translated into Russian afterwards.
- You can learn the work in the cleaning industry through the employer's orientation and by doing the work, but after a fixed-term employment relationship, we have also trained many of our Finnish employees, so why not Ukrainians as well. You just have to learn the Finnish language first, says Tikkanen.
- All entrepreneurs who are interested in employing Ukrainian immigrants should contact TE services' business services, advises Riikka Hytönen.
The event was organized in cooperation between the city of Äänekoski and Central Finland's TE services.
- Many thanks to the volunteer interpreters who came to the scene. Thanks also to Central Finland's TE services for setting foot here in Äänekoski and we hope that we will soon get language and integration training for those who come here,Hytönen says.
