Vt 4 Kevätlahti–Petomäki, Äänekoski: Traffic will be diverted at the Petomäentie intersection in week 17
Highway 4 traffic will be diverted to a detour in Äänekoski at the Petomäki intersection next week. Weather conditions affect the transfer time and the exact transfer date will be confirmed by Tuesday of next week. Road users are asked to pay special attention to compliance with traffic arrangements during working hours and especially driving speeds.
The arrangement is valid until the construction of the Petomäki crossing bridge.
The temporary arrangement affects traffic on highway 4 from both directions. Driving speeds will be reduced from both directions in stages before reaching the detour from 80 kilometers per hour to 40 kilometers per hour. The speed limit on the ring road section is 40 km/h.
For those driving north, i.e. in the direction of Oulu, the beginning of the Petomäki bypass lane will move about 100 meters north. The driving speeds of those driving south, i.e. in the direction of Jyväskylä, will be reduced in stages starting from the top of Petomäki, about 1,5 kilometers before the work site.
Road users are asked to pay special attention to compliance with traffic arrangements during working hours and especially driving speeds. "The ring road is located in a challenging location in the Petomäki valley, so speed limits must be followed when reaching the work site. Especially when coming from north to south, the work site can be reached from the steep and long Petomäki", Väylävirasto project manager Jarmo Niskanen says.
Acting 4 The Kevätlahti–Petomäki contract is part of the Äänekoski–Viitasaari bypass lanes project, where new bypass lanes are built and existing ones are improved and two interchanges are implemented. The goal is to improve the safety and smoothness of traffic and transportation.
