Youth of the Year and Adult of the Year encourage by example to act and influence
Nuorten Suomi ry awarded Väinö Miettinen Young of the Year and Adult of the Year from Äänekoski Emma Pellisen.
Äänekoski's Youth of the Year Väinö Miettinen is an active young person who is involved in influencing and doing many things. The 16-year-old from Konginkanga is e.g. active 4H entrepreneur alongside studies. Miettinen's company offers baked goods.
- Väinö is a creditable youth in many matters. With his own example, he also encourages other young people, family center coordinator Petri Oinonen says.
Young people in Äänekoski have many opportunities to influence and participate. For example, Miettinen has also been active in the building committee of Konginkanka's youth facilities, led clubs and worked in the congregation's youth influence group.
Miettinen's future dream is to start his own restaurant.
Nuorten Suomi ry is an organization that promotes young people's agency and influence, which offers young people exciting places to do, learn and influence. The Youth of the Year is a 14–19-year-old, active young person or a group of young people of the same age who participates in voluntary activities, promotes youth issues in their own circle, and encourages others to act as well.
4H is a strong player in Äänekoski
Emma Pellinen started piloting the Äänekoski 4H association more than ten years ago. The adult of the year award is a thank you for your hardworking and meritorious work to promote the well-being and inclusion of Äänekoski's young people.
- Äänekoski 4H organizes clubs, camps and trainings. We have no less than 60 young 4H entrepreneurs. Last year we employed 83 young people and salaries were paid around 30 euros, this year even 000-40 euros, says Pellinen.
- The cooperation between the city of Äänekoski and 4H has become even closer, and especially in the summer entrepreneurship of young people from Äänekoski, cooperation is needed and we support each other. The city's investment through 4H goes directly to our young people. 4H has strong activities around the city, and especially in green areas, a lot of club activities are organized, Oinonen says.
Emma Pellinen and Väinö Miettinen were awarded at a national celebration organized in Jyväskylä.
