It's the Village Bus phenomenon!
The village bus is a great service for residents and summer cottagers

This morning, June 17.6.2024, XNUMX, the mayor Matti Tuononen participated in the morning tour of the Village Bus where residents could meet. Äänekoski cleaning cloths and candy were distributed, and at the same time there was an opportunity to ask questions and discuss current issues.
Living in Liimattala, Konginkanka Marjatta Kaukometsä use the Kyläbus regularly and use it e.g. in the gym and on business. With the help of the village bus service, it was possible to replace the household car. Kaukometsä insists that the service must not be stopped under any circumstances. It is very important for many people in moving around and doing everyday things.
Village bus driver Keijo Eronen says that there are 4-22 customers on board every day. The service is used a lot from Konginkanka, a lot of young people come for a ride from Suolahti, and now summer cottagers have also found the service good for them. Eronen has driven Kyläbus for three years, so the regular customers have become familiar.
If necessary, the driver helps customers get on board and with shopping bags. It is easy to get into the car even with a wheelchair or rollator.
The city of Äänekoski spends more than 100 euros annually on the service. The village bus is a great service for residents and summer cottagers. It is used by people of all ages, and school children and customers of the disability service often ride it as well.
The village bus runs the morning and afternoon rounds every weekday and a total of 250 kilometers is accumulated per day. The price of the ride is only 3,30 euros for the customer and payment can be made in cash or card.
