Suolahti library's service will improve with the self-service library
Customer service hours remain almost unchanged
Suolahti library will finally have a self-service library!
Until now, customers have been able to access the reading room outside of service hours on a self-service basis, but after Easter, starting on Tuesday, April 2.4.2024, XNUMX, the new self-service opening hours will expand to include the entire library and improve the service. On the first days, even during self-employment time, staff will be there to help and guide you.
Suolahti library will continue to be open on weekdays during customer service hours, Mon-Wed 12-19, Thurs-Fri 12-16, when the staff is there. In addition to this, the entire opening hours of the library can be extended to mornings and weekends with more self-employed hours without staff.
During self-service hours, you can access the library premises by logging in with the Keski library card and the PIN code attached to it, which you can get in person from the library. With self-employed time, you can also read magazines in the library hall, and find your favorite place in the library. In addition, customers have free wireless internet access.
Using the self-help library is easy, and you will be guided to use it personally in the library, and pictorial instructions can also be found from the city's website. However, it is not necessary to use the self-service library or the loan and return machines if the customer wants to transact business only during customer service hours.
- The reform will bring more services, not take them away, library director Päivi Heinimäki says.
Self-help library is based on trust
- Our customers have been asking for self-service opening hours and we have taken this forward little by little in Suolahti. The preparatory work has included e.g. small repairs, door and lock changes, surveillance camera installations and updating the loan and return machine, says Heinimäki.
Self-service opening hours already work well in Konginkanga and Sumiainen libraries.
- Self-service library is based on trust with customers, and Sumiais and Konginkanka have hardly had any problems. Suolahti library has always had a village library-like atmosphere and our customers are familiar, says Heinimäki.
When a customer comes to the library on their own, they must not let others in by opening the door at the same time. Other rules must also be followed. Suolahti library's surveillance cameras have now been added and a security guard is patrolling there.
All the signs in the Suolahti library will be replaced with new ones during the spring. The lending hall has space for holding small-scale exhibitions, and now the Olisinpa woolsukka exhibition is on display.
A larger self-service library will be provided for the main library later. Currently, the main library has self-service hours, when the staff is in the building, but customer service is not open. The newspaper reading room can already be accessed during extended opening hours without logging in.
Äänekoski's libraries and library service turns 140 years old this spring. Suolahti self-help library will have an opening event on Wednesday, April 3.4.2024, 14 from 16:XNUMX to XNUMX:XNUMX and there will be a small-scale program. Welcome to join!
